The Amelia aviation group continues its activity in the service of Mahoran people

After one year of medical evacuation operation in Mayotte, Amelia (by Regourd Aviation) continues its activity for 5 years by winning the tender of the Hospital Center of Mayotte (HCM).

One year of medical evacuation

Since May 2020, Amelia has been offering a round-trip flight 6 days a week between Mayotte and Reunion Island for the medical evacuation of patients. One of the Embraer 135s in the fleet is based at Dzaoudzi airport to operate these flights. This system was set up to meet a need that had been identified for years and then aggravated by the Covid-19 crisis.

In 13 months of operation, Amelia has made 696 flights between Dzaoudzi (Mayotte) and Saint-Denis, Saint-Pierre (Reunion Island). The company’s regularity and punctuality rates, above 99%, have enabled it to transport 5,117 patients.

The HCM extends the activity for 5 years

This summer, the Amelia Group received confirmation of its selection following the HCM’s call for tender. This 5-year contract is the result of a year-long collaboration between Amelia, the Regional Health Agency (RHS) of Mayotte and the HCM in order to respond to health emergencies in the archipelago.

“Beginning a relatively complex operation in the midst of a health emergency can only succeed with mutual trust and expertise. An excellent cooperation was immediately established with the RHS of Mayotte, the HCM and all the medical staff. Thanks to them, regularity and punctuality were respected."

This service completes the medical system already in place in Mayotte. It includes commercial flights between Mayotte and Reunion Island as well as Heli-SMUR flights on Mayotte Island. Amelia’s medical aircraft is equipped with two approved stretchers and can evacuate patients with cardiac or neurological emergencies that require an intervention, as well as the acutely ill.
